The Emperor Penguin is truly a bird of superlatives. The largest Penguin on earth. The only penguin that inhabits & breeds on the Antarctic in the winter, walking miles & miles to its nesting site. The only species of bird on earth that can live its entire life without ever touching the earth! They porpoise from the sea & onto the ice. It then breeds and cares for its single egg, cradled on top of its feet while going without food for months. This unbelievably resilient bird almost defies belief. Describing the chick as anything other than cute would be an inaccuracy!
